GREENVILLE,
S.C. – BFGoodrich® tires have taken the competitive
world of rockcrawling by the very crags and cliffs of the sport,
in full view of the competition.
Rockcrawling
is one of the fastest growing, exciting venues in motorsports.
It presents competitors, their vehicles and especially their tires,
with brutal terrain and treacherous obstacles, has experienced
a groundswell of fans and attention. BFGoodrich® Tires sponsored
what may have been the very first competitive rockcrawling event
in 1999 at Las Cruces, NM, and continues its rich heritage of
being the dominant off-road light truck tire in the market. BFGoodrich®
Tires has offered contingency awards for many of these competitions
in 2002 and routinely provides free repair and maintenance service
to all of the competitors.
Vehicles shod
with BFGoodrich Tires have been victorious in key rockcrawling
competitions in 2002, winning 13 of 23 class competitions in UROC,
ProRock, RCAA, EROCC, and CalRoc events. The latest victory at
the RCAA competition in Cedar City, Utah where racers Ken Shupe
and Kevin “The Moose” Nalley won first place with
vehicles outfitted with the Krawler T/A® KX. The current winning
streak for BFGoodrich tires in RCAA is alive and kicking at three
for three for current season.
“The
Krawler T/A KX provides phenomenal traction in all types of terrain.
From the east coast to the west coast, I have yet to encounter
a terrain that my BFGoodrich tires could not conquer,”
said Shupe.
“The
tires have clearly exceeded our expectations,” said Scott
Dishman, marketing manager for BFGoodrich® brand. “Our
goal was to develop the ultimate off-road tire for this type of
competition. We set out to win and our success so far tells us
we’ve made the right moves.”
The tires
of choice for rockcrawling, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A® KM
and the Krawler T/A KX, feature the characteristics of authentic
performance that sets BFGoodrich tires apart from the competition.
The tread
pattern of the Mud-Terrain T/A KM features large, aggressive blocks
in the shoulder area for exceptional power in digging through
deep gumbo mud, dirt and sand. Appropriately called DiggerLugz
TM, these traction bars contribute significantly to the tire’s
high-grip capabilities. Also located in the shoulder area are
self-cleaning lugs, which
allow the tire to maintain maximum traction. The Mud-Terrain T/A
KM is available in 25 sizes, including the popular 15-, 16-, 17-
and 18-inch wheel sizes as well as a 37-inch overall diameter
dimension.
The Krawler
T/A KX, due for release in 2003, makes an indelible impression
with its own powerful tread pattern and deep lugs offering the
best grip in all types of terrain. Serious off-roaders provided
input for the aggressive tread design and a race proven, 4-ply,
nylon cord sidewall make this tire one of the toughest and best
looking off-road light truck tires on the market today.
BFGoodrich®
Tires, made for people looking to take control of the driving
experience, combine technological expertise with the experience
gained in motorsports to offer a traction advantage for almost
every type of vehicle and driving preference.
